Psychology:

Honest, sweet, innocent, and supportive all are words that fit Kururu perfectly. She's not afraid or ashamed to speak her mind when there's something to be said even if it might not sound all that intelligent or be the wrong thing to say. Her temperament and patience has to be a god given grace, for it takes quite a bit to invoke her wrath. Actually in the manga itself, there hasn't been an actual scene where she's blown her lid and gotten seriously angry with anyone.

Kururu’s sweetness and innocence is like a doubled edged sword, while it makes her very likable, many of the people around her see her often as naïve. But she doesn’t mind it; in fact she accepts that she may be a bit too much for people to handle. While it does trouble her that others find her ways naïve, Kururu is in the full on belief that what she had set her heart on, is indeed the correct decision.

However despite of all of this, Kururu doesn’t exactly think too highly of herself. Her mentor Makigai picked her off of the streets and forced her to become a tuner and later again picked her to be the one to inherit the title of Pledge Queen and to become the leader of Tool Toul To. Yet despite of all of this, Kururu doesn’t have the greatest amount of faith in her own skills and often responds modestly about her own achievements naming people who helped her get to the final point.

Because of her insecurities, she pushes herself to the extreme limits and does everything in her power and beyond to show to the people around her that she is to be trusted, reliable. There is no such thing as to ask too much from Kururu, for she’s always happy to fulfill the request. The happiness of others is her utmost concern, and when there is something she can do about it, she will go about and do whatever it is. Or the exact opposite happens and she hides behind someone who she believes is “better fit” for the role at hand.

Recently though, after her assumption as leader of Tool Toul To and after promising Ikki to make his Storm regalia, she’s become a bit more confident in her abilities.

She also considers herself to be badly-mannered due to the fact that she has issues with keeping still and is constantly restless. Kururu has questioned her involvement with the team ‘Kogarasumaru’ and wondered if she was nothing but a bother to them when the exact opposite was true. She feels that her hair is as wild as it is due to her restless nature.

Other Skills/Abilities:

Kururu’s crowning achievement and what makes her one of the “Kings” back in her own world is that she’s able to use sound to be able to fix and tell how parts of machines work together. By being able to tell the slightly different pitches apart from one another and knowing how things should sound when they’re correctly assembled, she’s basically able to fix anything, take anything apart, and make anything if she knows the correct pitches. Kururu mainly uses this ability to fix A-Ts, but has been known to use it to disarm an alarm system.

She also has a talent to be able to tell what time it is without the use of a clock. This ability hasn’t been fully explained but she’s accurate to the time to within three hours. And since she is indeed one of the "Kings" she is in ownership of the regalia 'Axis'.

Other Weaknesses:

Let's start with the obvious and point out just how small her frame is. Kururu composed of a small girlish frame and probably only weights just the bare minimum to make sure she’s not underweight. She’s definitely not built for combat and would not a win a fist fight with anyone really, not to mention she wouldn't even put up her first to begin with. In addition to this, Kururu's nature is too sweet and too forgiving for her to really hate anyone so it's really easy for practically anyone and everyone to take advantage of her. Looking for a person who is young, naïve and impressionable? Look no further than Kururu Sumeragi!

History:

Though a member and future leader of Tool Toul To, Kururu did not exactly join the team willingly in the beginning. During a special meeting held at a park Makigai Ine, the then leader of the team, was impressed by the skills that Kururu exhibited and quickly asked her to join the team. Kururu agreed not knowing exactly what she got herself into.

Not much is really known about Kururu's past before she first appears but it's a good guess to assume that from there she continued doing various test to make her into a better tuner, and without her knowing, into the successor of Pledge Queen. She made friends with fellow tuners and was a good school girl who prayed everyday and did her homework before it was due. Time passed and soon things were getting serious in the land world of Air Trecks. The most important to her, is the rumor of the new Wind King and perhaps Sky King.

From then on, "special" training between her and Makigai began to prepare her to become the new King's tuner. Though whether or not she would be chosen to be the tuner or not, was still up to the King, himself, but it just fit in with her normal lessons as a tuner anyways. Since she was told that she would be Ikki’s tuner, the rumored Wind King and closes to becoming Sky King, it made her terribly nervous and so she often ran from her duties.

Kururu speculated just what kind of a person this “Ikki” would be. If he was a nice person, a cruel person, someone who she would like or hate… Many things ran through her mind and made her uneasy. In all honesty, she didn’t want to become his tuner. It wasn’t until she actually met Ikki did she begin to change her mind.

Event after event, from Simca getting attacked by Sleeping Forest, the battle between Ringo and Ikki to the fight to participate in the Gram-Scale Tournament… Kururu fought her own demons and found resolve in becoming the new Pledge Queen and Ikki’s tuner.

Canon Point:

chapter 243, just before the battle with Sleipnir and the whole mess with Rika, Sleeping Forest and Sora came into the picture.

Reality Description:

Think modern-day Tokyo, Japan when you imagine the world of Air Gear. There’s not much that’s different from that world and the one we’re familiar with. The only real difference between us and them is the invention of Air Treck. Air Treck are in short roller-skates that have a sort of air cushioning mechanism built into them. They require no fuel besides the force that the rider exerts onto the machine within the wheels which then power the rest of the skates.

AT’s, the more common name for Air Trecks, are the source of a lot of battles that break out. Storm Riders, the term of which is used to describe a person who uses AT’s, are those who are involved in the mentioned battles. The battles are the same as gang fights but with rules and territory as well as AT parts can be won from these battles.
